The Role

ZaneRay has an opening in our Whitefish, Montana office or remote, for an experienced user interface designer. We are seeking a candidate that is excited about working with our clients in the outdoor industry and beyond. 

The ideal candidate has strong interface design skills with a focus on user experience. They should be able to demonstrate a strong portfolio of projects that are visually appealing and creative as well as research-driven and user-centered. Design experience for e-commerce and conversion is beneficial.

The Ideal Candidate

  • 3+ years of professional experience in design (although you might have had a different job title, like “UX/UI Designer” or “Product Designer” or “Web Designer”)
  • Strong portfolio of relevant interface design experience
  • A demonstrable understanding of user experience and how it relates to the design process
  • Strategic problem-solving skills and the capacity to distill complex information into meaningful concepts or ideas
  • Strong communication skills and ability to present and effectively convey the reasoning behind your work to clients and coworkers 
  • Responds well to feedback from various stakeholders
  • Proficiency in Figma and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • An understanding of design systems and how design decisions have an impact on front-end development
  • Experience designing for mobile devices and responsive layouts
  • Ability to estimate effort for various tasks and complete tasks within budget

Extra Credit

  • Experience creating prototypes and user flows incorporating animation and interaction
  • Basic knowledge of HTML/CSS
  • Experience with branding and identity design systems
  • Diverse work background, inside and outside the web agency world
  • A proven record of designing for e-commerce
  • A workflow that considers accessibility

Responsibilities

  • Design innovative websites with complex data requirements—often requiring extensive client feedback and user testing cycles to perfect
  • Work with the interface development team to produce sites that are highly optimized for performance across all devices
  • Immerse yourself in the science of user experience to design sites that not only look great but convert 
  • Create information architecture, user goals, journey maps, wireframes, and prototypes – using human-centered design principles that also include rationale based on customer research and best practices
  • Work with customers to develop their digital brand strategy while immersing yourself in a brand’s materials and industry. Our team prides itself on becoming experts in whatever industry we step into.
  • Present designs to clients and work through feedback and iterations to reach a final agreed-upon design
  • Collaborate with other designers on your team to produce high-quality, consistent work.
  • Work with the design team to fine-tune our design process
  • Familiarize yourself with various e-commerce and content management systems
  • Enjoy a flexible work schedule to be sure you maintain a healthy lifestyle inside and outside of work and be sure to be present in your family members' lives
  • Attend our annual team meeting in Whitefish to hang out and build relationships with team members

Position & Expected Hours of Work

This is a full-time position. Days and hours of work are typically Monday through Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m. but are flexible within that range.
